 Note from Joanne

 Hello!

 Happy 2010!

I thought about writing one of those “look back on
2009 and reflect on what I have learned” type of
notes, but I decided I don’t want to do that. I want
to look forward instead. Yes I do believe in learning
from past experiences, but just right now, I’m not in
the mood for that. Or maybe, I’m just not ready to
 share?

Looking forward, I can tell you I expect many new
things. I expect to do things a little differently
than in the past. I keep hinting at a new website –
that is not quite ready for prime time yet. I am
debating about the frequency of this newsletter; I may
switch to once per month (what do you readers want?).
I am thinking up new ways to provide value to you –
new services and/or tweaks on my current services.
Many things are in transition so there’s nothing
“complete” that I can announce. I ask for your
patience and your feedback; after all I am doing this
for myself and for you – if you don’t benefit, then my
business and I don’t benefit either.

Well transitions are my specialty, so I’m actually
energized and excited about 2010 and the changes that
I’m making. Won’t you continue to join me for the
 ride?

 Feature Article

[Note from Joanne: I’m reprinting this article by
Kendall Summerhawk. She addresses an issue my clients
ask me about, and I often struggle with this issue
myself. I do a lot of reading on this topic and so
far, this is the best “answer” I’ve found. Enjoy]

How To Tell The Difference Between Intuition And Fear

Women entrepreneurs need to depend on their intuition
a lot more than they normally allow themselves to.

Sure, logic and reason have their place in making
decisions, but these left-brain, masculine qualities
will keep you playing it safe, thinking about growth
in small, incremental steps and prevent you from
taking the bold leaps that are often required in order
to fulfill your dream and satisfy your Soul's Divine
Purpose (not to mention, stop you from making a lot
 more mo.ney!).

The problem is, women often mistake fear or doubt as
intuition. Reason is this: fear or doubt typically
speak to us in a loud, unpleasant voice. Much like a
nasty teacher from your past, it's a voice that
commands attention and can intimidate us into
 submission.

Compare that to the voice of intuition, which is
typically softer and sweeter. It can even be more of a
feeling or a sensation. Think of your intuition as a
whisper, rather than a shout and you'll understand
 what I mean.

So How Do You Tell The Difference Between Intuition
 And Fear?

Easy! First, think of something you know to be
factually true that also has emotional significance
for you. How do you know it's true? You probably just
"feel it." Likely, your heart or your gut tells you
 it's true.

Now think of something you did (or a decision you
made) that you knew in advance was the right thing to
do. This is something that turned out well, even
though at the time, it may not have made sense
"logically." It's likely you have a similar feeling
about it as you did the first example above.

Finally, think of something you're contemplating
doing. Maybe it's a program you're considering, or
something practical like raising your fees or
launching a new in.come stream. Choose something that
you've been feeling doubt or fear about.

I bet the feeling of doubt or fear isn't in your heart
or gut, is it? It's likely up higher, in your head or
even outside of you, swirling around your ears.

Bingo! That's your clue that tells you it's doubt or
fear you're experiencing, not intuition. Now, stay
with me on this because what I'm about to reveal is
going to sound a little woo-woo, but it works, I
 promise!

If you energetically "move" the decision you're
considering down into your heart or your gut you're
going to know what to do. This is because your
intuition is connected down deep in your body, in your
heart or in the seat of your creativity. By "moving"
your decision you're short cutting the left-brain
chatter of doubt or fear, who's sole purpose is to
distract you from the truth and instead, you're
letting the part of you that is connected to Divine
 Wisdom guide your choice.

 How cool is that, right?!

Remember, Doubt And Fear Are Not Truth

Your intuition is always right, even when the choice
you're making makes no sense in the moment you're
making it. My advice? Start energetically "moving" all
of your decisions down to where your wisdom lives, and
you'll love the choices you make and the amazing
results you create for yourself in the new year!

 Success Made Simple (SMS) Tip

To help you focus on your goals for 2010, choose one
word or phrase as your theme for the year. Whenever
you feel lost, uncertain, indecisive, off-track,
refocus on your theme and act/choose accordingly.

Example: my theme for 2009 was “Implement”. This
reminded me to act on my ideas. For 2010 my theme is
“Ask” (so be expecting me to reach out to all of you
 more often).

 Joanne's Hype-Free Zone

Networking is especially difficult for introverts, for
a variety of reasons. Here’s a great resource that I
discovered from one of my favorite introvert experts:

Have you been wanting to learn the psychology of
networking? Or maybe you’ve wanted to understand and
learn how to network properly, without feeling like
you are bothering people when networking?

Patricia Weber, as a nationally recognized business
coach for introverts, and Monique MacKinnon, trained
in the art and science of hand analysis, offer a
powerful program now available on downloadable audios,
3 hours worth, that balances the analytics and the
 energy of networking.

For just $99 you can download three 1-hour mp3s to
your iPod or mp3 player, to use as you plan your next
networking event. And you get a Networking Energy
Audit as well as a Systematize Your Follow-up
 worksheet.

Go to Powerful Networking for Straight Shooters and
increase your sphere of influence and sales!

Disclosure: Many of my recommendations use an
affiliate link, which means I get a small (often
miniscule) commission if you purchase using the link I
provide. I never recommend products or services that I
would not be willing to purchase myself (if I don’t
 already own it).

 Featured Client Experience

Joanne was such a pleasure to work with! She was
patient, personable, and always uplifting. As an
introvert in a predominantly extroverted world, it is
easy for me to become frustrated and to feel
misunderstood by others lots of times. However, Joanne
always made sure she was with me every step of the
way, acknowledging and empathizing with many of my
thoughts and experiences, and it helped immensely that
she was able to relate to the ways of introverts.

Whenever I drifted too far from my core and stepped
into the muddled zones of self-doubt and confusion,
Joanne was there to remind me of my values and to
steer me in a direction that would help me gain a
sense of clarity. I have the utmost confidence that
Joanne works wonderfully with all personality types,
but personally for me-- especially as a young 20-
something y/o woman who is just starting out in the
real world--to be able to be coached by a fellow
introvert like Joanne, who herself has accomplished so
much in life, was incredibly comforting, inspiring and
 reassuring.
